Went to the horse races with some good friends tonight and had a great time. Ross, Eugene, and Bran picked me up down by the track and we headed down to catch the end of the races and a little of Pinback playing shortly after the races. Stage was pretty crowded, just like before when we went with Sandy/Bill and Lori to see Gavin Rossdale (Bush). So after a few songs and after getting the itch from minor gambling on the Horse Races, we decided we needed to head to Barona's for a little BlackJack and Cards. The ride was a little longer than anticipated, which I guess is to be anticipated considering it is an Indian reservation and in the middle of nowhere. Not sure where it stems from, but something my dad probably told me as a child to freak me out... Actually maybe it was Tyler on a late night trip to Wendover sometime... Hopefully one of them will give me clarification? Anyhow I have distinct memories of a ghost-story of driving through Indian Reservation territory. A story of something about Wind-Riders or along those lines, but of a family who was driving through Arizona/New Mexico?? ish area late at night and everyone in the car was sleeping except for the father something like 2 kids in the back and wife in the passenger seat. Anyhow I'm going to butcher the story so until further clarification, it is roughly about these Native American hunters who would stalk out the freeways late at night with horses who could keep up with the speeding cars. They would sprint along-side the car until the driver would catch a glimpse of them and be so scared that they would wreck or some other bad form of death, the car and families were never to be heard from or seen again. Anyyyhow, I digress, so I'm a little spooked, just driving out into the reservation late at night. A brief discussion of the "Trail of Tears" and why or why don't we still owe the Indians - ahem, Native Americans, sorry Drew. Anyhow came out of Barona's on top with positive monies, so that's always good, now getting pretty tired and going to wrap it up, till we meet again. Hopefully this Pinback Video will work so you can have a little sampling.
I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.
