I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.

Softball Filled Weekend
So anyhow, a little preface to this post, we started a ward Co-Ed softball team on Coronado Island at a gorgeous baseball park and everything, but we had some struggles throughout the season. Including a few schlacking's losing like 22-3 and madness like that. It was one of those teams where some 17 people would show up and everyone is sitting half the time and you're just giving equal playing time to everyone so needless to say it was frustrating to start and we got our butts kicked some early. Coming into the tournament we were playing in the Play-In game, to see if we even qualified for the tournament. And basically long story short, we win that game, so we're in the tournament, which is now double elimination, so going into the 9am game thinking we'd all be home by 10:30. We win a few more games and end up playing ball until about 3pm that day. Needless to say I was cooked, but we had a lot of fun it was a great time.
Here we've got the boys from our squad, going left to Right we've got Darby, Brannan, Ross, me and Cory. I would like to thank Ross for my wardrobe this day as I spent the night as his place and ended up borrowing his clothes to play. Those white shorts will never be the same.
I think this picture is actually from a little while back, but this is me playing a little SS and making a play.
Look at that full extension Coach Perkins would be proud!
Another good team shot, us taking a break in between one of our games, with Ross on the left, Darby in the back, Michelle, back right, Becky on the right and me up front.
Full team shot, after our miraculous playoff run.
Starting back row - Cory, Michelle, Me, Becky, Janette, Julia and Kami
Front Row - Brannan, Darby, Ross and Cassie

Life Update
We'll start from Last Saturday, August 9th. My friends Ross and Eugene (Eugenius) decided we needed to make a Run for the Border, and I'm not talking Taco Bell, though we did end up eating at Taco Bell in TJ, not the same happy Chihuahua place, this place has 3 for a $1 tacos, which I later paid for...
They also have these poor Donkey's which they paint like Zebra's. I don't know, it's just pretty bizarre and sad looking really, just crazy to note how different the world is there in Mexico and it's only like 20 minutes away.
Our primary purpose of the Tijuana experience was to figure out the Mexican sports books! So we put down some money on some of the daily baseball games and we are already looking forward to Football season! Takes maybe an hour round trip to get down there, hit the casino, and then the major delay is getting back into the States. It's just a free for all to walk across into Mexico, and they need any boosts we can give their economy really, but getting back to the states is a whole nother story. Just waiting in a huge line, even to walk back across. And apparently we need Passport with Drivers License! Which we didn't really have but we're prettty american looking at we cleared and got back in fortunately this time.
Proceeded back across the border then hit up some outlet malls for a bit. Gotta love the Nike Outlets, finally got myself some new running shoes so hopefully they will help in not tearing up my feet as bad as my shoes I had before. Then Eugenius had some friends downtown at a place called Nicky Rottens which is just a little Grill Burger joint and there was a big UFC fight on so we chilled there and watched the fights for a while, it was a great time. This really is the summarized version, but I was too paranoid to take a camera into Mexico. All I heard were the how scary Mexico was stories and granted we went during the day on a Saturday and weren't drinking really, but it seemed pretty safe and ok to me. I mean ya, you can buy any drug and prescription you want to, but different strokes for different folks I guess, I had a great time there, and will be back soon. This historic post has already gone on a little too long. Going to head back to work now, and I'll update with the rest of last week and this past weekend later!

Amusing Alabama fan
Oh the South...
Now don't get me wrong, I love a Southern Belle with that accent. I think Reese Witherspoon on Sweet Home Alabama may be my perfect girl, but wow, sometimes some people really just crack me up.
This guy really just wants to get the point across that he doesn't like Tennesee.

Pinback, Races and Craps
Went to the horse races with some good friends tonight and had a great time. Ross, Eugene, and Bran picked me up down by the track and we headed down to catch the end of the races and a little of Pinback playing shortly after the races. Stage was pretty crowded, just like before when we went with Sandy/Bill and Lori to see Gavin Rossdale (Bush). So after a few songs and after getting the itch from minor gambling on the Horse Races, we decided we needed to head to Barona's for a little BlackJack and Cards. The ride was a little longer than anticipated, which I guess is to be anticipated considering it is an Indian reservation and in the middle of nowhere. Not sure where it stems from, but something my dad probably told me as a child to freak me out... Actually maybe it was Tyler on a late night trip to Wendover sometime... Hopefully one of them will give me clarification? Anyhow I have distinct memories of a ghost-story of driving through Indian Reservation territory. A story of something about Wind-Riders or along those lines, but of a family who was driving through Arizona/New Mexico?? ish area late at night and everyone in the car was sleeping except for the father something like 2 kids in the back and wife in the passenger seat. Anyhow I'm going to butcher the story so until further clarification, it is roughly about these Native American hunters who would stalk out the freeways late at night with horses who could keep up with the speeding cars. They would sprint along-side the car until the driver would catch a glimpse of them and be so scared that they would wreck or some other bad form of death, the car and families were never to be heard from or seen again. Anyyyhow, I digress, so I'm a little spooked, just driving out into the reservation late at night. A brief discussion of the "Trail of Tears" and why or why don't we still owe the Indians - ahem, Native Americans, sorry Drew. Anyhow came out of Barona's on top with positive monies, so that's always good, now getting pretty tired and going to wrap it up, till we meet again. Hopefully this Pinback Video will work so you can have a little sampling.

Another Day in the Office.
Anyhow, the work picture represents me still working diligently waiting for my year review, now over 2 weeks late. Very little motivation at work these days, but the ever daunting budget season is just around the corner, as experienced from last year it's just not fun times.
Got the news that one of my best friends back home is getting married, (RIP DRob) couldn't be happier for the kid, in a selfish way of course I'm sad as another "single" friend bites the bullet, but if it makes him happy I'm happy for him, I'm sure they'll be great. When this happens to good friends it always sends me into self-reflection time for a while, which still unfortunately leads me back to massive feelings of regret and upsettedness for a future I had once envisioned, then proceeded to destroy at the same time. (Pity-party ending now) Anyhow, something interesting I've noticed about myself is that I'm not good at first encounters or opening of communications/dates etc. To most who know me this may seem completely opposite, don't get me wrong, when I'm in a group of friends, I'll entertain some, and I wouldn't say I'm the quiet one of the group. But out here, maybe its just being out of my comfort zone without the backing of my good friends, I find myself being shy and almost awkward at meeting new people. Why is this?? Once I'm comfortable in a group or surrounded by friends in a confident setting, I'm outgoing and a down-right charming person to be around if I say so myself. Throw me into some of these new Cali situations though and I feel like a child just floundering in the deep end of the pool.
Ah somedays I just miss my Utah. Love you guys back home, Miss you!
