a Shout-Out and Happy Friday

Ok so off to a bit of a slow start at work on Friday, but possibly came across the greatest web-site ever.

A few samples...

Today, I was talking to my 81-year-old widowed grandmother on the phone, and she told me she was giving up sex for lent. Not only do I now have a vision of my grandma having sex, I am reminded that she is having more sex than me. FML

Today, I was pissing in a urinal and I had the urge to sneeze. Unable to hold it, I sneezed and hit my head on a metal beam supporting the urinal. In complete disarray, I had to step back from the urinal while pissing and managed to spray the floor, the wall, and the person next to me. FML

Today, I went to get a condom because my boyfriend and I were going to have sex for the first time. When I opened the drawer, I saw that every single condom had a Jesus pin stabbed through it, and a note on top of the box: "love mom." FML

25 Random Things about me Facebook Style

So this is direct from my Facebook, just thought I'd share.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

Yeah, so it's 2 in the morning and I was still up for no real reason...
25 Things about me here ya have it for my friends which have already done this and for some of you that haven't you should do it about yourself too, it's fairly intriguing.

1. I’m fascinated by the psychology of chain letters and don’t really like to fill them out. But this 25 things chain made the NY Times, so I figured why not. And I’m probably a bit of a Narcissist at heart and it satisfies me.

2. I over think everything and will probably take much longer than I should to fill this out because I’m worried about what you will think of this. Yes you.

3. I’m a computer geek at heart; I’ve built my own computer and am the resident family computer “fixer.” I downplay my geekiness in attempts at athletic activities, but my true affinity is on the inter-webs.

4. I can build a better Excel Graph than you, including: Macros, Arrays, Formulas etc. etc.

5. I’m pretty good at Halo, Rock Band and had a brief stint addicted to World of Warcraft. I also used to have a great Merfolk deck in Magic The Gathering and I still have a 20 sided dice, from my Dungeon and Dragon days.

6. I had a season of baseball when I was 8, that I was the little kid that you put at the end of the lineup and coach always gave you the “take one strike” but really meant, please don’t swing and just try and get a walk. I had something like 32 strikeouts, 25 walks and 2 foul balls which my mother was so proud of all season.

7. I did get better at baseball, when I was 12 I played with a Utah All-Star team which qualified all the way to the regional tournament right before the Little League World Series at Williamsport. By this age I was that 5’10’’ huge kid that everyone wanted to check his age because no way could he be 12.

8. Trying to Trick or Treat at 5’10’’ even if you are only 12 is quite traumatic; I was told multiple times that I was too old to be Trick or Treating at my age…

9. I personally know over 10 girls who could beat you in a game of basketball.

10. As a Jr. in High School I batted .714 in JV baseball and we had one pitcher who pitched every single game.
11. I ruined my arm trying to pitch side-arm in high school.

12. I am currently on the roster for 8 slow pitch softball teams and play actively on 5 of them, could play on every single day, but I’m leaving Fridays and Mondays open for now… I love San Diego and year round sunshine.

13. Hockey and Nascar ruin SportsCenter for me. And why is everything BUT a music video on MTV?

14. I don’t like to lose, at anything, and if I’m not very good at a certain activity or am likely to not win, I don’t like to play. But I pretend to be a good sport and not mind.

15. I love traveling and would do it every weekend if I could.

16. I have the greatest friends in the world and from all different facets of life. I’ve been so lucky to have each and every one of you in my life. I roll with the geeks, to the jocks, to the pot heads to the Mormons, you know who you are, and I love each and every one of ya.

17. I have attended 12 different religions churches and am fascinated by each one and religion in general.

18. I was 2 classes, and my Student teaching away from being a teacher when I decided to change my major and get an Economics degree.

19. I really miss coaching baseball and basketball and teaching, and wish I could go back most every day. (Usually until I see the salaries again.)

20. I have 2 Mountain West Conference Basketball Championship rings from 03’ and 04’ and never got on the floor for 1 minute of playing time.

21. On any given day I contemplate just up and moving to try something new. Austin, Denver, Portland, Seattle, Rochester maybe??

22. I’ve never had a broken bone or stitches. But I have broken an arm, (baseball pitching at age 12, sorry Chad Seamons) knocked out front teeth, (swift elbow when a guy was guarding me too close Soph. season against Park City) but I dang near had to go to the hospital one time in a high school basketball game from falling so hard trying to draw a charge (flopping) that I gave myself a concussion and the guy didn’t even touch me.

23. I dread waking up every morning and could sleep for a 24 hour period if I wanted. Also I’m capable of falling asleep at any time under any circumstances; I’ve flown a lot, and rarely see anything past take-off and before landing.

24. I love my Utah Jazz, Duke Basketball, Cubs Baseball, but I would trade my favorite player from each team in fantasy sports to gain a statistical advantage. (Did I mention I’m competitive)

25. I use inside jokes I’ve made with friends to different groups of people and even when they don’t get it and it doesn’t make sense I still laugh.

Softball Season

So we embark upon another Softball Season in San Diego this year. I have one friend who I've declined to play on his Monday nights team. Primarily because I am Playing Tuesdays, Wed, Thurs, Sat and Sundays. So it should be a good time!
Started off one of the leagues yesterday and we won convincingly. Wednesday night team is tough, we are really pretty solid. We got up 15-0 by the end of the 3rd inning and ended up finishing the game up 15-3.
I only went 2-4 from the plate which was sort of disappointing, but it's hard to be really focused when you're up 15-0 and still want to go up to bat really aggressively, but I'll have to work out of the hole. We're having a contest to see who can get the most hits, HR's, RBI's and best Average, so that should keep it competitive.

This is kinda what we look like.

Valentines in Napa Valley

So finally got home from a crazy fun weekend up in the Napa Valley Wine Country with Ashley. It was an amazing trip, save for the ending where I had some problems with my flight and ended up having to spend an additional night in Oakland, and then fly out at 6 am the next morning and go straight to work that hurt a little bit!

So flew from San Diego to Oakland Intl. at 9pm on Friday night, Ashley's mom picked us up from the airport and took us to their house in Pleasanton(spl?), Cali. It was amazing, a great pool, hot tub, family pictures everywhere, loved it. The town was really cute too, kind of a small town feeling reminded me a lot of Lehi back home, but that it was clearly growing and people were coming in and over running it, like every good small town. :( We were pretty tired from the late flight and a long day of work for both of us, we talked to the family some and then headed to bed because we were driving to Napa Valley at 8 am to get to our first Winery Tour at 10:30 at Frog's Leap. Woke up early, (Oh how I love mornings.) had some delicious Breakfast caserole which her mother made, then headed out to Napa. I as dad would put it "rested my eyes" for a short period during the drive down there and we headed straight to the tour. The Napa Valley was really gorgeous, grapevines, rolling hills everything about it was just really authentic looking and cute, I loved it.
Hit a few wineries, toured the country-side some, checked into Motel, the flowers I ordered and were supposed to be in the room of course weren't, because the staff at the "El Bonita Motel" was incompetent. (Stay tuned for my TripAdvisor posting) The place over all was really cute though and the rooms were great, small fridge, microwave, couple of wine glasses it was perfect.
Anyhow, enough rambling, the pictures can describe it all.

Just a tiny sampling of the huge Mustard fields and Vineyards they have in Napa, there is just so much to look at, there are 100's of Wineries and Vineyards all looking just this beautiful it's hard to not just stop looking around or wanting to stop at everyone.

Here is me and Ashley at the top of the Sterling Winery, it was a really nice one, we rode a Gondola up to the top of the Winery itself then toured around the winery and walked out on to this patio which has an overlook of the entire valley.

Here we are in the Sterling Winery again, sitting by the fire in their tasting area. It was rainy and kind of cold the whole time we were up there, so we were happy to be by the fire and getting warmed up!

Here is a picture of a Castle, I don't remember the exact name of the place, (EDIT: Castello di Amorosa Winery) but it was a 1600 Castle which they have refurbished to be a Winery now, it was something like Castille de Audubon or something along those lines, I'll have to look it up later, but it was a really fun winery.

And Last picture, but actually first stop of the trip was at Frog's Leap, probably our best tour, walked around the whole winery, got some of the history and had a great time. Also where I was informed that I looked like Jim Halpert from The Office and that I wasn't allowed anywhere near this guy's girlfriend because she would be all over me. I can't help but see that as a compliment :)

Big Lebowski Night

Welp not a whole lot going on, just been working my booty off trying to keep a job in this crazy economy.
On Saturday we had a little party, a Big Lebowski party themed on the movie. Friends dressed up, brought over some food and watched the movie, then all went bowling.
Needless to say, it was quite the Fiasco.
I don't really know how else best to describe it, I'll post the pictures and you can see for yourselves.
